Dreaming of...

Monday, August 31, 2009

I'm dreaming of lots of little drawers to put things in, boxes to store trinkets and cubby holes full of ribbon.

Twins.

People always ask if Anooke and I are twins. I love when it happens cause we giggle and pretend we are, it's fun cause we're besties for life and I love her.

I'm in love, again.

Ok, so we all know how much I love Cody Hudson. But I think I've found a new art crush, and it's Josh Boston. Yeeeah. Check out his stuff here.

Tartan.

Friday, August 28, 2009

No wardrobe is complete without a little bit of tartan. I thought it was a winter thing, but I have been proved wrong. Here is what Christian Dior's 'The Little Dictionary of Fashion' says:
This is perhaps the only one of the fancy materials which is perennial. Tartan appears every season in some shape or form and is always young and gay.
But it is something you have to be careful with. The traditional use for tartan is of course for Scottish kilts – and when it is used in other ways it can be a little theatrical.
Plaids are a different matter – they can be of any colour and design; but tartans are authentic in both colour and design.

Loving the Cullen's house.

As you know, we are fools for Twilight. Our swooning doesn't stop at Edward Cullen and Jacob Black, we are totally smitten with the house used in the movie. Now we know it's not the beautiful white house Stephanie Meyer describes in the book, but we aren't complaining. We have fallen in love with the clean lines and light filled rooms.

The boy who cried love.

Monday, August 24, 2009

How can it be that one minute the boy is crying love and the next he is crying love to someone else?
Why is it that the girl is left behind picking up the pieces, while the boy can move straight on as if nothing has happened?
How will I be able to tell a boy isn't just crying love and that he means what he says?

Smallable.

Smallable is my new favourite kids webstore. It's French and faboulous. Their new lookbook is utterly inspiring and I can't wait to buy things for my gorgeous nephew. Check out their website and blog here.

Happy Birthday Anooke.

Happy seventeenth birthday Anooke. We hope you have a wonderful day!

Me and my room.

Saturday, August 22, 2009

I wanted to share a few beautiful (in my opinion) things about my bedroom. Some of my favourites are my Dad's colour coded penguin classics, my amazing silkscreen print "Dripping Waves" which hangs above my mantle, the gorgeous vintage decanter my Mum bought me for Christmas with my favourite scent, Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb, and a photo I took of Zee a few years ago. The photos above are all things that I hold dear to my heart and inspire me, I hope you like them.
All photos by Lella.

Crazy cool.

This is Devendra Banhart. His music is a little crazy but pretty cool and he has a beard. I'm totally jumping on that band wagon.

MilK.

Friday, August 21, 2009

I mentioned a while ago that one of my favourite magazines is French children's fashion title "MilK". This photo is absolutely magical. If anyone knows who the photographer is please tell us. Check out MilK's blog here.

Five: Of our favourite hip-hop stars.

"All I'm saying is that if I had to choose between Jay-Z and Dennis Hopper, I'd choose Jay-Z." The conversation while Zee and I were printing the other day went a little something like that. We started playing the "who would you choose?" game, so we decided to make a list of our five favourite hip hop/rap stars.

5. Jay-Z.

4. Kanye West.

3. Lupe Fiasco.

2. John Legend.

1. Pharrell Williams.

Enough already.

I've been going through this internal struggle deciding whether it had been a suitable enough time since I last posted about Robert Pattinson. I found this image ages ago (which I love due to the fact he has a beard!) and I've been patiently biding my time to post it. This afternoon I thought "no, enough is enough, everyone has to bask in the glory of this bearded unicorn". And that was that. Enjoy.

Let us eat cake.

Thursday, August 20, 2009

It's been a long day. I'm ready to relax and have our Ladies-in-Waiting deliver a selection of pretty cakes and macaroons...

Spring has almost sprung.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

It was a beautiful day today. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the blossoms are starting to bloom. We wanted to be part of it all, so Lella and I set up our screen printing equipment outside and started printing our new postcard range for an upcoming market. What a beautiful day, it reminded us that spring is almost here!

Gone gone gone.

Some sunny day-hay baby

When everything seems okay, baby

You'll wake up and find out you're alone

Cause I'll be gone

Gone, gone, gone really gone

Gone, ga-gone, cause you done me wrong.

A taste of summer.

Sunday, August 16, 2009

It's meant to be 28 degrees in Sydney today. I can't wait to feel some warmth! I think it will be a perfect day to spend outside. I'm off to search my wardrobe for something summery to wear...

Green.

Saturday, August 15, 2009

I love green, but have always been a little shy about wearing it. If I do buy something green it's usually an earthy, understated shade. I just love this bright green Reese is wearing, it's inspired me to try something a little bolder.
Here is what Christian Dior's 'The Little Dictionary of Fashion' says about green:
It is supposed to be an unlucky colour. I think that is entirely wrong. I am superstitious and green has always been very good for me. And it is a lovely colour and very elegant.
It is a colour of Nature – and when you follow Nature for your colour schemes you can never go far wrong. I love to see green used in every shade and in every material – from tweed in the morning to satin in the evening. There is green for everyone and for every complexion.
Image via We Heart It. Oh – and a big thank you to my dearest Denise for sending me 'The Little Dictionary of Fashion' all the way from London town.

Five: spaces I've fallen for.

Cluster wall.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

I'm thinking about doing a cluster wall in my living room, and have been looking for inspiration. I'm usually an even, everything lined up, kind of girl – but I just love this cluster wall. It's interesting, but not at all messy. Maybe odd numbers can look pretty after all?

For those who appreciate a good beard.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Etsy is home to some awesome beard art. Here are some beard-a-licious must haves for anyone who loves facial hair.

The glorious Anooke.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

She says things like 'shameable' and 'glorious'. She dreams of owning a sausage dog named Melvin Frankfurt Senior and driving an early 80s Volvo wagon. She's a 'social' vegetarian and likes cucumber sandwiches. She's always full of interesting facts and figures. Sometimes she's profound. She makes me laugh until I cry. She is glorious.
Check out Anooke's awesome blog.

Oh Ashley.

I was just reading one of my favourite blogs, Here comes the sun, and fell in love with these photos of Ashley Olsen for Marie Claire. Isn't she just lovely?
