The Classics for youngsters.
Thursday, August 1, 2013
Call me crazy, but I've started my Christmas shopping. Yes you read right, I've started my Christmas shopping. I'm telling myself it's because I want to be organised, but I think it's really because I love the process so much. Why wait?
I started at the bookshop where I fell in love with BabyLit books. The classics for toddlers. Genius! I bought 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Romeo and Juliet', but I'm going back for more. I have my sights set on 'Sense and Sensibility' and 'Jane Eyre'.
If you have little ones and love the classics, or just like a good counting book with pretty pictures – these are for you.
Truth and Simon Walker.

Firstly, I love Simon Walker's typography. It is simply wonderful. Secondly, I love this quote. It is so true. I think we all need to remember it.

Ohana.
Saturday, March 17, 2012
'Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind'*.We laugh together and cry together. We yell and get angry. We sit quietly together. We talk and share together. We dream together. We support and encourage each other. We love each other.
My Family = my everything.

A long trip.
Tuesday, March 13, 2012

We went to Bendigo on the weekend to celebrate our Grandfather's 80th birthday. We set off early on Thursday with a car packed full of goodies for the trip. It took us 12 hours to get there – a long trip – but we enjoyed the adventure.Bendigo is a lovely country town with plenty of history and beautiful architecture. I loved the grand buildings and monuments. It has funky little lane ways filled with great shops and places to eat. The sun shone, we saw a crochet covered bike, ate mexican food and I even found a shop that sold awesome clothes for boys, Milt & Joe.
Apart from the family get-together, the highlight was going to the Grace Kelly exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery. It was amazing to see the collection of Grace's clothes and accessories. What a beautiful woman.
What a wonderful weekend.
String.
Monday, February 6, 2012

"it is as if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly and inextricably knotted to a similar string situated in the corresponding quarter of your little frame. And if that boisterous channel, and two hundred miles or so of land come broad between us, I am afraid that cord of communion will be snapped; and then I've a nervous notion I should take to bleeding inwardly."Mr Rochester to Jane. The girl with seven horses.
Friday, February 3, 2012

Once upon a time there was a girl who had 7 invisible horses. People thought she was crazy and that she in fact had 7 imaginary horses, but this was not the case. When autumn came the girl spent a whole day washing all her clothes. She hung them on a string in her garden to let the gentle autumn sun dry them. Out of nowhere, a terrible storm came and its fiercefull winds grabbed a hold of all her clothes and all seven horses (authors note: since they are invisible they obviously didn't weigh much). The girl was devestated and spent all autumn looking for each horse spread around the country, wrapped in her clothes. I was reading Abundance and came across this photo project by Ulrika Kestere. I love it. I'm also in love with her blog. Ahhh, the whimsy.
I love Abundance.

I know I have posted about Abundance before, but I love it. Mady's posts are always beautiful, whimsical and inspirational. I always find myself in awe.

The Distillery.
Friday, October 7, 2011

I was lucky enough to attend the launch of The Distillery, letterpress and design, last night. It was so exciting and so inspirational. Everything was splendid. The smell, the printing demonstration, the beard on the printing man, the sample pack of letterpressed delights (my son declared the monster calendar to be beautiful!), I could go on all day. I love The Distillery's passion to share the art of letterpress and their willingness to teach their skills.

Pallet makeovers.
Saturday, August 6, 2011

Lella and I really like the whole pallet makeover thing, so we've decided to give it a go. Who knew there were so many things you could do with them!
We're both going to try our hand at turning pallets into coffee tables. I'm thinking I might try and white wash mine, while Lella is thinking dirty lime green might just be the ticket for hers. I'm a little nervous, but it's the weekend and my pallet is ready and waiting for a makeover. If you've successfully transformed a pallet, we'd love to know how it went.
I'm not sure of the source of the images, if they're yours let us know – they're lovely!
