Double the love.

I know it's late to be posting this, but Catherine Campbell is having a half price print sale that ends today. I had been trying to decide between two of her prints when I logged on tonight and discovered her sale, needless to say my decision was easy, I bought both! I'm so excited. Quickly – visit Catherine's Etsy shop and treat yourself!

Indeed it is.

I love this 'Map to Ghost Town' by Esther Aarts. You can see more of her work here.

I can't decide what I love more: a) the fact that Barcelona have their own "Park Department" or b) that they had Klas Ernflo design the posters. Absolutely fantastic.

The festive season.

Anooke posted this gorgeous illustration and I just had to share it. It combines two of my favourite things: the festive season and beards. Perfection. I love it.

Christmas gift ideas: Catherine Campbell Calendar.

What's better than a beautiful gift that will last the whole year? Catherine Campbell's 2010 calendar is just lovely. The A5 calendar is available from Catherine's Etsy store.

I flew the red eye to Perth and all I got was...

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

This freaking awesome magazine. King Brown, where have you been all my life? I was staying in a cute little suburb of Perth called Leederville. It has a few really rad clothes shops and restaurants (and a fantastic skate-ish shop I can't recall the name of?!) and a shop called Remedy where I found this gem and fell in love. As you guys probably know by now, I'm a bit of a magazine freak and when I fall in love with a mag, I fall hard and fast. I am completely and utterly in awe of this fine article. Check out more King Brown here. Love it.

What do Garance Dore and I have in common?

Thursday, September 3, 2009

I love Garance Dore's Illustrations. Even more so when I read a gorgeous post about her and her sisters. It reminded me of my own three beautiful sisters and the mischief we get up to. We always share clothes, do each others hair and make up and talk talk talk - even when there's nothing to talk about. What amazes me most is the amount of overwhelming love four little bodies can have for one another. I know that no matter what the circumstances we'd run around the world for each other.

Letter to Cody Hudson: "Why I think we are M.F.E.O."

Thursday, August 6, 2009

"Dear Cody Hudson,

I think you're neat. I bought your book "Save my life" the other day and loved it. Also, you have a rad beard; and while we're on the subject of beards, let me just say that Capt. Daniel Gregg from the Ghost and Mrs Muir had the greatest beard of all time. I can't wait to see if we are "M.F.E.O" (made for each other), which I think is highly likely as I like beards, you have one, I like art, you make it, you know...so on and so forth. See you soon (in a totally non-stalker way, like as in not literally "see" you soon),

Sleepless and Son, whoops, I mean Lella."

Ok fine, so I lifted a few lines from Sleepless in Seattle. But I do think that Capt. Daniel Gregg from The Ghost and Mrs Muir had the best beard of all time and also that Cody Hudson is one of the finest artists of the 21st Century. I love him. And his beard and his awesome body....of work. Check out Cody's work here, at Struggle Inc.  Also, buy his book.

Pink.

Monday, July 20, 2009

Christian Dior's The Little Dictionary of Fashion says:
The sweetest of all the colours. Every woman should have something pink in her wardrobe. It is the colour of happiness and of femininity.
I like it for blouses and scarves; I like it for a young girl's frock; it can be charming for suits and coats; and it is wonderful for evening frocks.
I think I need to get something pink to wear...
The beautiful illustration is by Kate Wilson, via fffound.

I love a good timberjack.

Adrian Johnson is one of my favourite illustrators so I thought I'd share this totally awesome poster. View more of Adrian's work here.

Street art.

Friday, June 26, 2009

I found this awesome graffiti in Newcastle last weekend. The centre of Newcastle is kind of baron these days so it was refreshing to see some colour while it was raining and blowing a gale!

Homage to the Beard.

If you have read our first ever post 'A beard by any other name...', you will know that Lella has a thing for beards. I had thought that her obsession was rather odd, but came to terms with it (and even have to admit that Captain Gregg – from The Ghost and Mrs Muir – is pretty fine, beard and all).
So when I came across Erin Dollar's fantastic handmade beards on Etsy, I quickly showed Lella and we decided Erin may just be one of the coolest people with an Etsy store.
Not only is Erin an excellent beard maker, she is also a wonderful illustrator and has a great blog, I made you a beard, dedicated to 'sharing beard related tid-bits'.
Whether you are a beard maniac, or prefer a clean shaven chin, I'm sure you will appreciate and enjoy Erin's work – she has had me chuckling all morning.

Yoshitomo Nara.

Sunday, April 26, 2009

I brought a book of Yoshitomo Nara's postcards a couple of years ago and he has been a favourite of mine ever since. Yoshitomo is a Japanese Pop artist and his work is cute, scary and cheeky all at the same time. I love that many of his characters are so innocent but then out of the blue one will be smoking or swearing at you. You can see more of his work here.

Tally-ho!

Monday, April 6, 2009

This little print takes me away to land where you jump into chalk drawings and all of a sudden you're wearing pastels and saying "tally-ho!" whilst trotting along on your pale pink merry-go round horse.
The Black Apple has released a new series of prints titled "Milkland". I am absolutely in love with the colours of the whimsical characters that The Black Apple creates.
Find her prints here.
