For the little boy who didn't want to grow up.
Wendy Darling on love:
Wendy: I think you have, Peter. And I daresay you've felt it yourself. For something... or... someone?
Peter: Never. Even the sound of it offends me.
[Wendy tries to touch his face, and he jumps away]
Peter: Why do you have to spoil everything? We have fun, don't we? I taught you to fly and to fight. What more could there be?
Wendy: There is so much more.
Peter: What? What else is there?
Wendy: I don't know. I guess it becomes clearer when you grow up.
Peter: Well, I will not grow up. You cannot make me!

Headlong.
"She was more than human to me. She was a Fairy, a Sylph, I don’t know what she was - anything that no one ever saw, and everything that everybody ever wanted. I was swallowed up in an abyss of love in an instant. There was no pausing on the brink; no looking down, or looking back; I was gone, headlong, before I had sense to say a word to her."

My muse.
Thursday, October 22, 2009
A little while ago my Mum and Dad did a bit of a clean out of their rather large book collection. I hit the jackpot when I saw that Dad was getting rid of his ye olde 'Funk & Wagnalls Standard Dictionary'. The 1958 dictionary weighs a ton, but it's glorious. The pages are yellowed and it has that old book smell. It even has little finger grooves so you can open each section more easily, and to top it off, it has the most awesome image pages. There aren't many, but they are lovely. Thank you Daddy.
Just breathe.

Yes I understand that every life must end,
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go,
I'm a lucky man to count on both hands
The ones I love...
Some folks have one,
Others they got none,
Stay with me...
Let's just breathe.
Stay with me,
You're all I see.
Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
If I didn't I'm a fool you see...
No one knows this more than me.
As I come clean.
Nothing you would take...
Everything you gave.
Hold me till I die...
Meet you on the other side.

Shoes.
Never underestimate the importance of your shoes. Christian Dior's 'The Little Dictionary of Fashion' wisely says:
You can never take too much care in selecting shoes. Too many women think that because they are low down, shoes do not matter, but it is by her feet that you can judge whether a woman is elegant or not.
There are many different kinds of nice shoes, but they must always be well adapted to the dress you are wearing.

Five: fonts I'm liking today.
Fonts are so subjective and personal. I think the fonts we use say a lot about us, sort of like our music collections or the shoes we wear. Some are classic, some are fashionable and some are a mistake. Here are the fonts I'm liking today – a mix of old, classic and fashionable.

Dreaming of carpet.
Thursday, October 15, 2009
Today my heart's desire is to have carpet. We have those floating floorboards in our living room and I have strong feelings of dislike towards them. The previous owners put them down on top of old carpet, so they are a bit warped and all together hideous. I know carpet will arrive eventually, but now, with my cold feet, I wish it were today.

Three Fendi favourites.
Thursday, October 8, 2009
I've never been much of a Fendi fan (I can just hear the little "tutt-tutts" of shock horror from some of you) but I'm afraid it's true people. Until now that is. I think their gorgeous girly new spring collection is inspired. It just makes me want to be walking down a gorgeous esplanade somewhere.

Unearthed.
Wednesday, October 7, 2009
Over the last few weeks we have been clearing a section of our backyard for a new garage/workshop. It's been sad to see some of our trees go, but we have enjoyed working outside and rediscovering a patch of yard that has been long over-grown.
After an afternoon of cutting and clearing, I was inspecting our finished work and noticed something buried in the dirt. A treasure. I think I may have actually squealed in delight to find that it was a horse. How lucky am I.
Pony Rider.
Tuesday, October 6, 2009
The November-December issue of Inside Out magazine arrived in my mail box today and I have to say I'm quite taken with the Pony Rider cushions featured in the 'Editor's Choice' section. The cushions and 'teakins' (a blend of napkin and tea towel) are screen-printed, hand-sewn Australian products.Be sure to take a look at their lovely website and blog.
The best house in the street.
Friday, October 2, 2009
For years we have walked past this old house and longed to own it and restore it to it's former glory. It's so grand and ornate – and even a little bit scary. I feel sorry for the house, all alone with no family to love it. Lella and I will save all our pennies and wait for the day that we can buy it and breathe life back into it.
