Bathroom envy.

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Maybe one day I'll have a bathroom as dreamy as this... for now I'll just have to envy this one.

A cup of light.

Saturday, May 29, 2010

I was reading the T2 tea blog and came across these lights. I'm all about tea, teacups and teapots at the moment, so loved this quirky use of crockery. You can make Lights out of anything really...

Come back home.

Friday, May 28, 2010

So tell me what you need
And I'll accommodate
But if too long goes by
You just might be too late
So now you're on your own
Won't you come back home
To see you're not that kind
And find the strength
To find another way.

Lemons = magic.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Lemons. I love them. Whether you're using them for a sweet dessert, a savoury dish or just enjoying a hot water with a slice of lemon, they are wonderful. I knew people used them for cleaning as well as eating, but had never tried them out their cleaning power until the other day.
I was flicking through my copy of 'Domestic Bliss' by Molly Dye, looking for a trick to clean my kettle. I use the kettle all the time, and while I knew it was clean, the inside had become discoloured and it was really annoying me. I didn't want to use any harsh chemicals so turned to Molly for a natural solution. She had one – Lemons. So, I cut two lemons into quarters, put them into a kettle full of water and brought it to the boil. I let it sit for an hour and then returned to see the result. It was amazing! The discoloured kettle was no more. It was bright white again, just like new. Now I'm off to see what else I can use the awesome lemon for!

I just love Jenna's calligraphy or 'fancy handwriting' as she puts it. It is so pretty and whimsical. If only everything could be written this way. Visit Jenna's blog to see more of her lovely work.

I want a fringe.

Friday, May 21, 2010

Anooke's ultra short, ultra cute, Rockabilly fringe has inspired me. I don't think I can pull of something as dramatic as Anooke, but I think it's time to go back to my school days – fringe style.

Laundry love.

Friday, May 14, 2010

Today we gave my laundry a makeover. It has been a forgotten room, but one I use a lot, so decided it was time it got some attention. Be and I started the day with morning tea at Black Star Pastry – they make the best ever macaroons – and then headed to Ikea for a set of white drawers and a very cute cream tin, a bit like an old fashioned bin with a lid.
The fun started when we got home and tried to assemble the drawers with my one year old 'trying to help'. You don't know stress until you've combined a toddler with flat pack furniture. We got there in the end and the result was well worth it. Now, the laundry isn't as pretty as the picture above, but give me a few weeks to add some romance and we will be nearly there. It feels so good to have given my laundry some love. I keep walking past and looking in with a big smile on my face.
Order at last.

Tea.

Saturday, May 8, 2010

I'm working on some designs for a lovely little tea shop that's opening next month. I love this project and wanted to share some of the photos I have taken for the website.

Roger Ouk.

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

I was watching TV on Sunday night and happened to flick it onto the ABC's Art Nation – My Secret Art Life. It was about this awesome guy Roger Ouk, a lawyer by day, and a men's tie designer by night. The ties are nice, but it was Roger that caught my attention. He's just so cool. He's a snappy dresser (as Lella would say), and an inspiration.
You can take a look at Roger's website Thyvane here (his online shop is coming soon), but to appreciate him in all his glory be sure to check out his interview on Art Nation.

Sporty-chic.

Saturday, May 1, 2010

I love this sporty-glam look. It kind of looks effortless, even though there's sequins.

Morgan Maassen.

Lost. words. can't. speak. awesome. photos. guy. 18. whoa. Ok, enough dramatisation - Morgan Maassen is 18 and I think one of the best surf photographers I've seen in a while. This kid has serious talent. His portfolio has completely blown me away. Check out his other works here.

Dear John.

We four sisters are going to the John Mayer concert on Wednesday. I am so excited I can't even handle it. Judge if you want, but we totally love him. And I also love this poster by House Industries created for his Madison Square Garden show.
