I'm sorry my tears washed your book away.

Jessica Hische.
I wish I was as clever as Jessica Hische. Her work is amazing. I love her 'Daily Drop Cap' project, where Jessica illustrates at least one letter a day, and plans to keep it up for at approx. 12 alphabets! The image above is of her first (and last) edition Daily Drop Cap letterpress prints – oh so lovely!

Unicorn-esque.

Definition: Sometimes looks like a unicorn, but not full unicorn. Jason Swartzman is unicorn-esque. This doesn't mean I love him any less.
You've got the love.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough
And things go wrong no matter what I do
Now and then it seems that life is just too much
But you've got the love I need to see me through
And things go wrong no matter what I do
Now and then it seems that life is just too much
But you've got the love I need to see me through

Home sweet home.

We have been talking about moving lately and it has me thinking about houses – homes, my dream home. To be honest I'm not exactly sure what my dream home is, one day I love the ultra modern look, the next I want something romantic and pretty. Today I love this house by Marcus O'Reilly Architects.
The Lighthouse.
And I've been getting urges late at night
To walk and walk for days and throughout lights
Through people's houses, picking food from plates
Through people's gardens, picking locks on gates
So we are moving to a lighthouse, you and I
While seas drown sailors, we'll be locked up safe and dry
And though our doors may knock and rattle in the wind
I'll just hold you tight and we'll not let those fuckers in
And I've been leaving gifts out in the woods
That someone might stumble upon and wonder at their origins
I've been feeling like a fox with sad old eyes
Whose skulk has all moved on to leave the dark and empty den behind
So we are moving to a lighthouse, you and I
While seas drown sailors, we'll be locked up safe and dry
And though our doors may knock and rattle in the wind
I'll just hold you tight and we'll not let those fuckers in
I'll anull these little walls of attrition and these invocations
That's seen me holding my camera out at arms length
To self-document these new locations
When I should be leaning against you
Deciding on things to get done
And you should be leaning on fountains
And filling my space up and breathing the air from my lungs

And filling my space up and breathing the air from my lungs
So we are moving to a lighthouse, you and I
While seas drown sailors, we'll be locked up safe and dry
And we are moving to a lighthouse, you and I
Our beams will burn the clouds to beacons in the sky
And though our doors may knock and rattle in the wind
The wind...
I'll just hold you tight and we'll not let those fuckers in
While seas drown sailors, we'll be locked up safe and dry
And we are moving to a lighthouse, you and I
Our beams will burn the clouds to beacons in the sky
And though our doors may knock and rattle in the wind

Tra la la!
It looks like it's shaping up to be a beautiful day. And I'm in an alarmingly good mood. I feel like i should be skipping down a little cobblestone lane with a bunch of fresh flowers "tra la lar-ing". Have a wonderful day!

StyleSightings: Rad New Yorkers.
I think this is one of my favourite StyleSightings images of all time. There's too many reasons why I love it. These kids are so rad.

Five: things that make me feel sick.

5. Listening to the radio.
4. Cheese cake. The unbaked kind. It's just wrong.
3. The thought of my Instyle magazine collection in a garbage truck. It still hurts.
2. The fact that my innocent little car was parked on a lovely hill and an unidentified nasty white (it left a scratch) vehicle reversed into it and then left without so much as leaving a note.

"I never plan that far in advance."
Monday, March 1, 2010
A new boy has entered my world. He's complicated, fascinating, funny and vague. I was thinking about this on my way to work this morning and remembered Humphrey Bogart's character 'Rick' in Casablanca. Rick is hurt and damaged all because of his great love. One of my favourite lines in the movie is when a disgruntled lover of Rick's asks him to have dinner that night and he simply replies "I never plan that far in advance". I'm going out on a limb here, but I think I've met a 'Rick' and I'm a deer in the head lights. To run or stay?
