I find Lionel Bawden's work so inspiring. He takes something most of us use everyday, the common pencil, and carves them into the most beautiful sculptures. I love the complex simplicity of them, they are sheer genius. The use of shape and colour is just divine.
The sculpture above, 'esque - thoughts brought forth by our fingers' 2000-02, is made from colour Staedtler pencils, epoxy and linseed oil. More of Lionel's work can be seen here.
